Hi!!! I’m back!! It seems like forever since I’ve posted here on the blog, but I’ve taken some time to travel and really brainstorm about the blog post topics that will be most helpful to you. Today I’m covering a full review and comparison of the Dyson Airwrap and the Revlon 1-Step Styler.
I’m going to be completely honest in my review. I’ve used both tools for a long time at this point, and stand firm in my opinion. But of course everyone has different hair and what works for me might not work the same for you!
Aside from the substantial price difference (Dyson $550/Revlon $60), there are pros and cons to each tool. Let’s get into the details…
I began using the Revlon Styler about a year and a half ago. While this was my go-to styling tool, I would also occasionally use my regular curling wand if I wanted a tighter curl. I really loved how easy the Revlon Styler is to use and the bouncy, sleek blowout look it would give me.
However, I would always notice a cloud of steam would fill my bathroom while I used it. While I never noticed any damaging effects to my actual hair, this made me feel uncomfortable, so I began researching new tools to try out.
This is where the Dyson Air Wrap comes into play. I had seen countless TikTok videos of girls showing off their glossy, sleek blowouts while using this tool. I loved the look of their bouncy, soft curls and the fact that the Air Wrap comes with multiple attachments. I love other Dyson products, so I figured I would love this one as well.
I have been using the Dyson Air Wrap 2-3 times per week for about 4 months now. I don’t want to scare you, but the first time I used it, it burned off my baby hairs around my forehead (I told you I would be honest!) It also made my hair look HORRIBLE the first time I used it, because I was trying to use some of the flashy techniques I saw on TikTok. I really wanted to love the AirWrap though, so I continued to play around with it (and switched to only using the medium and cool heat settings rather than the hottest setting).
After a few tries, I ended up finding a technique that worked for me and was able to achieve a pretty, bouncy curl. I basically held the tool the same way I would hold a normal curling iron and just let the air “wrap” my hair for me rather than twisting like I would with a normal curling iron. I’ve been using the lower heat settings and haven’t noticed any further damage to my hair.
While I do love the Dyson and will continue using it weekly, I find more downsides to the Dyson than the Revlon. If you have the option to get the Dyson at a discount or as a gift, I’d say go or it. But I definitely could live without it and tend to get more consistent results with the Revlon.
I hope this review and comparison helps! I also added more details in the images below. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions; I’m here to help YOU! 💛 -Cassie
