I bet a lot of you are in the same boat, but lately I can’t get enough of comfy outfits! I joked in my last IG post that I’m leaving jeans in 2020 and sticking strictly to versatile loungewear all 2021. Joking of course, I’m sure I’ll break out the jeans again someday LOL.
Anywho, every year Pinterest does a roundup of trends they predict will be most impactful over the upcoming year. Looking into 2021, Pinterest predicts a term called “athflow” will begin trending in fashion. They describe it as clothing that is “professional enough for the “office,” stretchy enough for the yoga mat and comfy enough for the couch.” Okayyyyy, I’m about it!!! You can read their full breakdown of athflow here along with their other trend predictions, but I’m already hopping on the athflow train! A couple of my recent go-to outfits totally fall under this trend. I’ve been gravitating towards pieces that are super soft and have a looser, yet structured fit. They’re perfect for casual in-office days, working from home, running errands, light exercise; basically just about everything I’m up to these days!
My formula for the perfect outfit:
Structured bottoms: They don’t have to be skin tight leggings, but even joggers or knit bottoms that are a bit more form-fitting or have a different shape help give you a bit of definition. They are the key to making sure you don’t look like you’re just wearing any ol’ sweatpants around. Options here, here and here.
Extra soft jacket: I love a good lightweight jacket or fleece! This will add even more of the comfort element to your outfit, and you can play with jackets with different textures like fleece, quilting, sherpa, puffer, and shearling.
Layering coat: if you have to run out of the house, throw on a long coat to pull the look together. This will really polish up your outfit and make it look like you put in more effort than you did.
Accessories: SO important! Layer necklaces, chunky earrings, statement shoes, or a scarf to individualize your look and add more detailed interest. I love these earrings, these shoes, this scarf, and these necklaces.
