I never understood those people that say “I’m not an outfit repeater” or “you’ll never catch me wearing the same top twice”. First of all, don’t we all own washing machines?? 😂 And second of all, sustainability is such an important topic these days that I can’t imagine going through clothing pieces that frivolously!
I used to really buy into the little trendy pieces from fast fashion stores. I’m not saying I no longer want to be trendy or that I don’t still shop at H&M and Forever 21. However, my mindset and shopping approach has changed as it relates to the items I’m willing to buy. I no longer feel the need to buy something just because of a quick “trend”. I’m more focused on purchasing pieces that I can style a variety of ways and that are high quality enough to last at least 7-10 wears.
I have had this black and white sweater since last Fall and I love it. It’s so versatile. I have worn it to the office, to a night out at dinner, and even with leggings as I run errands.
This time, I wanted to try styling it a little differently than normal. I came across a cute styling trick awhile ago and thought I would give it a whirl. Here’s what you do:
- Put on a bodycon dress (or any dress, really). Make sure you like the bottom/skirt portion of the dress, because that it what will be showing.
- Take any sports bra and put it on over…yes, OVER the dress.
- Then, grab your favorite sweater and put it on over top of the sports bra.
- Take the bottom edges of your sweater and tuck them up under the sports bra. Push it up far enough that the bottom folded part hits right at the skinniest part of your waist. This will give you an hourglass illusion!
That’s it! I wore my dress/sweater combo with my favorite white sneakers for a really casual, cute look. This would be great to wear to church, the office, or a dinner out.
