I hope you all are having a fantastic 2021 so far! As I’ve been looking back on the 2020 year, I thought I’d round up some of my favorite beauty products that I discovered over the last year to share with you guys. I still have many beauty staples that I’ve used for years (I can write a post on those, too if you’re interested!) but these are products that I discovered this year and have been regularly reaching for consistently. Some of them will eventually become holy grail staples in my routine too!
Makeup:
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer: I don’t know why I’ve never tried this sooner! I have always heard my Youtube faves rave about this, and finally gave it a try this year. It feels super lightweight and blends so easily. Because I’ve been working from home for most of the year, I’ve been wearing makeup less often which is why I opted for the travel size of this product. I didn’t want to purchase the full size just for it to dry up before I could use it all!
I Dew Care Lip Oil: I love this stuff! I got it as a gift from a friend and quickly became obsessed. I’ve never used Vitamin C products on my lips, but it made them sooooo soft & smooth. It also gives the perfect pop of subtle color, perfect for “no makeup” makeup days when you just want to look a little more refreshed.
Skin
Mad Hippie Night Cream: Umm, OBSESSED. I have always had poor skin on my face, and in the colder months, my skin gets so irritated from the dry & cold air. My skin is naturally oily, so I don’t usually have good luck with thick moisturizers. BUT… this one works wonders! Seriously, after just one night of using this, my face felt so plump and radiant. It easily has made it into my “holy grail” of products that I will continue to use. Plus, it is packed with a ton of beneficial ingredients and feels like a multivitamin for my face. I use it every night and definitely notice a difference on nights that I forget to use it!
Mad Hippie Vitamin A Serum: I swear this post isn’t sponsored by Mad Hippie, I just love all their products I’ve discovered so far! This Vitamin A serum helps exfoliate my face and gives a nice glow. I use this twice a week overnight, and the following morning I will use a silicone face exfoliator brush to gently massage all the dead skin off while I wash my face. Currently using this in place of a retinol, but I still love those too!
Hair
The Ordinary Marula Oil: This product doubles as a hair AND skin fave! Marula oil can have amazing benefits for both skin and hair, but I use it primarily in my hair. Lately I’ve been trying to prevent breakage and encourage my “baby hairs” to grow out more, and keeping it hydrated has really helped so far. I use a shampoo that I really love, but noticed that it makes my hair so squeaky clean that it might be drying it out and making it more prone to breakage. To combat this, I’ve been applying a few droppers of this oil to my hair the night before I plan to wash it, sort of like a hair mask. I apply it all the way from the roots to the ends and then brush it through and twist it up into a bun before bed.
Argan Styling Oil: Okay, TBH I have had this Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Oil for awhile and it looks like it is now discontinued! But I love it because it is a styling oil, so HERE and HERE are similar products. After I wash my hair, I apply this oil mainly to the ends and a little towards the roots. It has argan oil, which can withstand super high heat, so it works as a heat protectant and really helps lock in shine. I also find that it helps my look better in between washes because it keeps it hydrated.
ColorWow Dream Coat: This product easily makes it onto my holy grail list! I saw a lot of other bloggers raving about this and I was skeptical but also intrigued. So one day when I was at Ulta I saw a travel size by the checkout counter and figured it couldn’t hurt to give it a try. I am so glad that I did! Saturate your hair from root to end in this while damp, and apply heat (you HAVE to apply heat to activate) and your hair will have more shine than ever! It legit makes me feel like a Pantene commercial from the amount of shine I get from using it. What I love the most is that it makes your style last for DAYS. Like, when I curl my hair after using this, my curls last for several days easily and I don’t really need to touch them up in between washes. Definitely worth it!
