Hello! I recently shared some photos on my Instagram from our family trip to Mackinac Island, and had a ton of requests asking for our itinerary. We were only there for a few days, but it was a lovely, peaceful and relaxing trip to reconnect with family. If you’ve never heard of Mackinac Island before, it is a quaint little island in northern Michigan where cars are not allowed, so you walk, bike, or take a horse carriage everywhere. The main strip of shops and restaurants has a very charming old fashioned feel, and the rest of the island feels like a cute coastal escape, similar to how I’d imagine Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard to feel.
We visited during the second week of July, and the weather couldn’t have been better. We had a little rain the first morning, but that gave us time to explore Fort Mackinac and it cleared up by lunchtime. the rest of the trip was in the 60s in the morning and evening, and in the upper 70s during the day. It gets breezy by the water, so each day I wore a light sweater around my shoulders or waist in case I needed it. I posted all of my outfits here and here on Instagram! I also saved an IG story highlight to my profile as well which shows more of what we did and saw.
We stayed at the Mackinac House, which was just a block behind the main street. I would highly recommend! But make sure you still make it over to the ionic Grand Hotel for cocktails at their rooftop bar and to experience it’s historic charm!
I’m adding our itinerary below, but with the disclaimer that there is still so much more to do/eat/see on the island. At the end of our trip, we really felt a nice balance between “I saw what I needed to see and I’m okay if I never make it back again” and “I would love to come visit again and enjoy the scenery with family”.

xx, Cassie
