As you probably know, I typically gravitate towards simple, casual outfits that have a little something extra or elevated about them. It can be fun to pack my closet full of trendy pieces but at the end of the day, that’s just not reasonable, sustainable, or fashionable for me in the long-term. I like to focus my money on good quality pieces that can be styled multiple ways and can live in my closet for longer than one season. Bonus points if it’s affordable!
Anyway, this outfit falls right into that category and it’s perfect for the holidays. As I’ve written about before, during holiday gatherings my family usually dresses a little nicer than everyday, but not super fancy or overdone. I think a lot of families are this way; you want to feel a little extra and special, but you still want to be functional and comfortable! Now let’s break this outfit down…
I actually bought this sweater dress back at the end of October. As soon as I saw it in-store, I knew I had to have it for Christmas time. It is literally one of the softest things I own. The rich red color is perfect for the holidays, but it’s not too bright and will totally be wearable well into the late Winter of 2022.
One of my favorite things about the sweater is the length. I’m such a sucker for tunic-style pieces that I can throw on over leggings or tights, or wear on their own. It just makes everything 10x easier and who doesn’t love wearing comfy leggings while still looking fab? For this outfit I obviously opted to pair it with just some simple, heeled black boots since it was 50 degrees that day. But I’d love to find some cute, sheer black polka dot tights because I think it would be adorable with those too!
I’ve mentioned these boots already a couple of times… sadly they are sold out from Forever 21! 🙁 I check almost everyday to see if they’re restocked because I get asked about them multiple times a day lately. However I have found several options that are nearly identical! Some even from Amazon! I will link them in the “shop it” slider below this post, along with everything else!
