Have you ever been to Northern Michigan? Before I moved to Michigan, I had no clue how gorgeous this state is! We took a trip up to Traverse City this weekend with some friends and it was so much fun.
I actually disconnected from social media a bit while I was away. I’m normally not the type of person who ever feels the need to “detox” from the internet… I truly do love all things social media! But it was really nice just to enjoy the weekend without pressure of taking photos, and just document/photograph my memories in an organic way.
For that reason, I didn’t get a ton of outfit photos while I was up there! I took a LOT of photos of my dinner, the scenery, etc. If you’d like to see a Traverse City restaurant roundup, just let me know and I’ll make one!
However, I did want to share my favorite 3 items that I packed on my trip! It was super cold, so I packed a lot of great layering pieces.
Red Target Sweater: This one will be on repeat all Winter! I actually didn’t notice this in the store, but the sweater is a bright strawberry red with little flecks of blues/greens/whites. It’s extremely subtle, and really pretty up close. The material is super soft and I love the mock neck.
White Target Sweater: I was in need of a really good white staple sweater! They actually had a few different options. Some were more off-white, and some were more stark white. I opted for the one that was right in the middle. I knew I would ruin a stark white sweater pretty quickly, haha. I love the cable knit detail, and the fact that it is extremely soft. Also since it is affordable, I know I won’t care TOO much if it gets stained, since it is white.
Cropped Puffer Coat: Long story short, I searched far and wide for this one! Basically, I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on a cropped puffer, so I ordered one online from Forever 21. When my order was delayed and I realized it wouldn’t arrive before I left for my trip, I scrambled. I went to the mall and scoured all my favorite stores. By the grace of God, I found another one at Forever 21! It’s not the same one that I ordered, but it worked out perfectly because this one actually has a hood. It snowed and rained all weekend, so I got really lucky with the hood. This coat was actually way warmer than I thought it would be too, and I love the adjustable cord along the bottom hem. I would recommend if you’re looking for an inexpensive cropped puffer! It’s better than the one they sell at Target, in my opinion.
I plan to style these pieces all winter long so I will be sure to get you some real-life photos of each of them soon! in the meantime, if you’re looking for some great, cozy, warm pieces to add to your wardrobe as temps drop, I’ll link these 3 in the “shop it” slider below this post!
