The other day I let my hair air dry (which I never do) and all of a sudden I noticed a ton of new wave and volume! Between getting regular trims and nailing my hair care routine, my hair is the healthiest it has ever been. I think that helps the natural waves to pop out more! Let me share my secrets for healthy hair…
Reduce heat exposure: This one has helped my hair immensely! Since March of 2020, I have been styling my hair with heat tools way less. Since I work from home, I typically just toss my hair up into a claw clip everyday. I really only style it about once a week with either my Revlon One-Step or my curling iron. I notice way less breakage and my ends stay much healthier in between trims.
Products: I’m really sensitive to certain scents, and my skin breaks out so easily, so I am very picky with the hair products I use. I have found a few that I really truly love!
- The Ouai Shampoo & Conditioner: I use the “Fine Hair’ version of both. They leave my hair feeling super clean and lightweight!
- The Living Proof 5-In-1: Use this in damp hair before you blow dry and it will make your hair dreams come true! Its super lightweight but it helps to smooth and volumize. I also swear this stuff makes my curls last for days.
- It’s A 10: This stuff does it all! I mainly add it to my ends for the heat protectant factor.
- Big Sexy Volumizing Powder: Add this after you’ve finished drying and styling your hair for mega volume! It also makes my hair less-greasy in between washes; it acts like a built-in dry shampoo!
Regular Trims: Getting regular trims helps prevent split ends and breakage before it happens! I go every few months since I don’t color my hair or use too much heat. But find a schedule that works for you or ask your stylist what they recommend!
I’m going to experiment with some new products soon! I’m testing out different leave-in products that will help my hair air-dry with less frizz and more curl definition. I will update you once I have found the goods!
